Well Known Folksinger/Sociologist To Present Singing Lecture at Bennett Hall

(OU-Chillicothe) – Folksinger and sociologist Corey Dolgon will present A Singing Lecture – In Search of One Big Union: Folksongs and Social Movements in the U.S.

His words and music promise to bring both history and theory to life. This special lecture, presented on the Ohio University Chillicothe campus, will focus on the role that folksongs play in the US labor movement.

Corey Dolgon, a Ph.D in American Culture and Sociology Professor has performed “singing lectures” for over 25 years. Corey is a long-time labor activist and community organizer who’s used folk songs to build solidarity on the line and engage students in the classroom. His singing lectures cover movement history from a multicultural perspective and examines the function of folk songs in workers’ and activists’ work and organizing.

The special lecture will be Tuesday, April 5th at Bennett Hall Auditorium, between 3:30pm-5pm. The event is FREE and open to the public.
