(Ross County) – It’s that time of year again. The rain and warmer temperatures are bringing out the salamanders (and newts, peepers, and wood frogs). The Ross County Park District will host a Salamander Night Hike on Monday, March 4th from 8pm-9pm at Buzzards Roots Nature Preserve on 514 Red Bird Lane in Chillicothe.
Meet Ms. Macey at the shelter house to learn about these interesting creatures before cruising around the pond to see who’s hanging out. This program is free to the public and great for ALL ages.
What to bring:
– Conditions could be wet and muddy, so come dressed to get dirty!
– Waterproof footwear is recommended and a flashlight or headlamp is a MUST.
– You might also consider plastic bags to carry home muddy shoes and clothes and a few towels to cover your car seats.
– NO DIP NETS, PLEASE!
