For a second year in a row, the Jackson Ironladies have won the Frontier Athletic Conference Girls Basketball Championship.
McClain, who entered the game with a sub .500 record, pushed the eventual champs into overtime before the Ironladies could lay claim to their repeat title, 45-39.
McClain had the upper hand on the scoreboard for most of the game, leading 12-7 after one quarter, 16-15 at halftime and 27-26 after three quarters. Jackson drew even to send it to the extra period, where the Ironladies put the game away 45-39.
TJ Carp was one of three Jackson players in double figures- dropping in 20 points. Mattie Walburn had 12 and Kenzie Davis added 10.
McClain was led by Payton Pryor and Lily Barnes with 9 points each.
Jackson improves to (9-0/14-3) and McClain falls to (3-6/6-13).
Girls tournament pairings will be announced around the state this Sunday, with the Southeast District expected to announce their brackets at 3:30pm.
