Mike,
July 16th, 2023 is just a little over a year away. The question I have is what is being planned to celebrate it? Maybe Litter Media should take a lead role?
July 16, 1773 was an important day for Chillicothe, Ohio and the United States. It is the day Thomas Worthington was born!
Thomas Worthington was orphaned at the age of six when his mother died. His father had died the year before while raising additional troops to support the Continental Army.
Eleanor was also orphaned at an early age. Yet, together, they had a tremendous impact on our region, state and country.
Imagine a year long celebration of the birth and life of Thomas Worthington? It should start with being the focus of the Statehood Day celebration and prayer breakfast. (He and his wife were people of great faith.)
Activities around the week of his birthday would also be important.
What is Ohio History Connection planning?
He was actually born in Charles Town, VA (now WV) so there would be the opportunity to coordinate with them and the Jefferson County Historical Society.
This is something I’ve felt strongly about since 2013, but haven’t gained traction with. If there are significant plans underway they haven’t included me in the planning.
You have so many connections and with your role with Litter Media I felt it might make a difference reaching out to you.
Thanks.
